Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort

I recently visited the Walt Disney World Resort without kids (Yay!) and stayed at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort.  My vacation was sort of last minute and the Deluxe Resort I had wanted didn’t have a room available. I hadn’t stayed at Coronado Springs in years so I decided to give it another try!

Upon check-in, my husband and I were upgraded to a King Bed Room. (We also received a complimentary champagne toast!) We had a beautiful view of the water from our room. I loved waking up to the peaceful scene!

Coronado Springs seems like a very big resort with the convention center located right there. It didn’t feel big to me! It was very quiet. Our room was close to the main building and to the bus stop.

We were able to refill our mugs and grab something quick at Pepper Market with ease! We also enjoyed a nightcap at Rix Lounge. The pool is Mayan themed and has a really cool water slide! Siestas Cantina is conveniently located so you can grab a bite to eat or something to drink while swimming the day away!

The location of Coronado Springs is great! It is considered an Epcot Resort but really it’s in a prime location – close to all of the theme parks! Bus rides to the parks took about 10-15 minutes. If you have a car, Coronado Springs is located along Buena Vista Drive, one of Disney’s main roads, making it very easy to get to where you wanted to go.

I was definitely impressed with Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort and will be going back to visit. There is so much more I could explore, like the Maya Grill and the La Vida Health Club. Maybe an in-room massage my next visit?

Be Our Guest Restaurant

1/20/2015

We were at the Walt Disney World Resort in November and lucky enough to get a Fastpass for lunch at ‘Be Our Guest’.  The lunch menu is different than the dinner menu and can be found here.

When reserving your Fastpass lunch, you have the option of pre-ordering your food. I chose not to do that. When we arrived we waited in line to use the touch screen ordering system. I chose the Croque Monsieur. It was the BEST ham and cheese sandwich I had ever eaten!

After you have ordered your food, you are directed to the dining area. There are 3 rooms to choose from. The Ballroom, the West Wing, or the Rose Gallery. I loved each room, but my favorite is the West Wing.

You do get a dessert with your meal and, of course, I had to have the Master’s Cupcake. (It comes with the “grey stuff”. It really is delicious.) I found the recipe and recently tried to make it. It’s pretty tasty.

Here is the recipe for The Grey Stuff:

Ingredients:

1 (3.4 ounce) pkg Instant Vanilla Pudding Mix

1 1/2 cups Whole (or 2%) Milk

15 Oreos (regular, not double-stuffed)

1 (8 ounce) tub Whipped Topping

3 tablespoons Instant Chocolate Pudding Mix

Edible Pearl Sprinkles

Directions:

Mix entire contents of vanilla pudding mix and milk in a large bowl with a whisk. Set in fridge to chill 5 - 10 minutes.

Place Oreos in food processor and blend until they are fine crumbs (no large chunks). If you don't have a food processor, you can place them into a gallon-size freezer bag and smash using a rolling pin. This will take a bit of time, since you'll want to get rid of all large pieces.

Take the pudding from the fridge and mix in the crushed Oreos. The mixture will be dark gray/black. Now, fold in the tub of whipped topping. It now is a lighter color but not quite gray. Finally, mix in the chocolate pudding mix and stir well. You should now have "the grey stuff"! Place back in fridge to chill for at least one hour before serving.

‘Be Our Guest’ has been one of the most sought after reservations in Disney and the Quick Service Lunch is a great way to experience the Beast’s Castle. Ask you Mickey’s Dream Vacations agent to reserve your spot!

Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party

1/20/2015

I was lucky enough to attend the first Christmas Party at the Magic Kingdom this year. The park has already been transformed into a holiday wonderland, but there is a little extra magic – pixie dust – that only Disney knows how to add during one of their special events!

The party I attended was sold out, but I didn’t feel like the park was busy at all. We had very minimal wait times for attractions. (I think the longest was the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and that was only 25 minutes!) It is one of the very few times where you can meet the princesses with their princes as well as other characters that are hard to find.

If you hang out on Main Street, U.S.A. you have the opportunity to see something very rare… SNOW! It snows in the Magic Kingdom! You can also view Mickey’s Once Upon A Christmas Parade and watch as Elsa transforms Cinderella’s Castle into a beautiful, icy display of winter magic. Holiday Wishes is the Magic Kingdom’s holiday fireworks display. Tinkerbell still flies across the sky as your favorite holiday classics set the tune to the nighttime display.

Don’t forget to check out the shows! Mickey and his friends present ‘Celebrate the Season’ in front of the castle and ‘Totally Tomorrowland Christmas’ includes Buzz, Stitch, and Mike Wazowski. I danced with Phineas and Ferb in Tomorrowland right after grabbing my cookies and hot chocolate!

Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is a great way to celebrate the holidays with your family and to make magical memories that will last a long time! Tickets are still available.
