This was another big week in Disney News. Of course the biggest news was the new tiered pricing plan for tickets, we will get to that in a minute. There was other news going on in the parks as well, the removal of a favorite snack at Animal Kingdom, my little girl was crushed by this, thank goodness they are still serving her favorite "snack" at the Magic Kingdom.
Here is the BIG NEWS of the week.
~Rumors were flying all week about Disney increasing their ticket prices, it was confirmed yesterday that they were going to move to a tiered plan for stand alone tickets. Here is the break down:
PEAK SEASON (this includes spring break, much of the summer and late December)
$124.00 for the Magic Kingdom $114.00 for Epcot, Disney's Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom.
$110 at Magic Kingdom, $102 for the other three parks.
VALUE DAYS (late August and almost all of September)
$105 for the Magic Kingdom
$97 for the other three parks.
Turkey Legs discontinued at Disney's Animal Kingdom!!
Tomorrow is the last day you can enjoy this yummy snack at Animal Kingdom . This is one of my daughter's favorite things to eat in the parks, she wasn't happy to read this bit of news. Animal Kingdom already discontinued another famous snack earlier in the month, the Churro. Don't be too upset with Disney, you can still get both of these yummy snacks at the Magic Kingdom, Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios.
Diamond Horseshoe is opening soon!!!
Disney is actually going to open this "always closed" restaurant for lunch and dinner. Hopefully this will be an "always open" place to get some great food. This table service credit spot will begin serving guests sometime next month.
Rumor has it this restaurant will feature a fixed price menu that will cost $33 plus tax for adults, and $19 for kiddos ages 3 to 9.
Reservations are now available for dates from March 13th to May 30th. We don't why they haven't opened it up for the rest of the time, but time will tell, and when it does I will let you know!!
Big Thunder Mountain removed from refurb list!!
This is good news for Big Thunder Mountain fans that will be going to the Magic Kingdom this summer. It was scheduled to be shut down from April 4th to July 16th, but magically it has disappeared from the refurbishment list. Sources say that it will be refurbished at a time when the park is a bit slower.
New Shopping Experiences coming to Disney Springs!!
Get your credit cards ready folks, new shops are coming to Disney Springs later this year. MAC Cosmetics, Anthropologie, Superdry and Free People. They will be located in the Town Center district and will welcome shoppers sometime this spring. When I hear dates, I will let you know!
Rivers of Light will start in APRIL!!!
This is AWESOME news for Animal Kingdom lovers!! Rumors are flying that Disney will be offering a guaranteed seating package for this show that will include dining at Tusker House. This will be like the Fantasmic Package at Hollywood Studios. We think the dining packages will be available for all three meals at Tusker House. There may be three different showings of the Rivers of Light on most nights. Maybe Animal Kingdom will stay open later than we originally thought.
Character Changes all around the "World"
Rumors are flying that yet another favorite character at the Magic Kingdom is on her way out. I hope this is just a rumor, but I was told that the Fairy Godmother may stop doing meet and greets in the Magic Kingdom. Maybe she has an increased demand to Bippity Boppity Booing little princesses, but people will be sad that they won't get do meet her in the park.
Zootopia characters Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde are randomly meeting people in Animal Kingdom, this usually indicates that the new characters will be doing more meet and greets in the future.
That's another weekend round for you!! I hope you enjoy these weekend blogs, and I hope they are keeping you informed of all the changes that are going on in Disney!!
I would love to hear from you!!! What do you think of all the changes that are taking place?
If you haven't booked your next Disney Destination Vacation, and would like to, please email me!! I would love to help plan your next DREAM vacation!!
My family and I recently took an amazing vacation on the Disney Magic. It was a 4 night Bahamas sailing that took us to Castaway Cay, Nassau and had a day at sea. While we loved the islands we had the best time on our sea day. We got to sleep in, meet some characters, hang by the pool and eat ice cream all day!
When I asked my boys what their favorite part of the cruise was they said it was the pool and the ice cream. My favorite was the yummy Pina Colava drinks!
We had the whole day on the ship while it sailed around the Bahamas. The weather was perfect, not a cloud in the sky. My older son took a ride on the Aquadunk while my youngest braved the twist and spout slide.
My husband and I even had some adult time while the kids went in the kids club! We enjoyed the adult pool and some much needed relaxation.
It was great not having anything scheduled or anywhere to be until dinner that night, we loved our fun day at sea!

Owner-Mickey’s Dream Vacations
Have you ever wondered what’s it’s like to go behind the scenes at Disney’s Animal Kingdom park? My family and I were lucky enough to experience a bit of it recently when we went on the Wild Africa Trek. It took me a bit out of my comfort zone when we had to be harnessed in to cross a rickety bridge over crocodiles or standing on a cliff to feed the hippos, but it was well worth it.
The trek only accommodates 12 people per trip, so it’s an intimate group. You start out by gearing up in safety harnesses before heading through Kilimanjaro Safari area. Our first stop after a brief hike through the wilderness was feeding hippos then we were off to cross rope bridges over crocodiles. We were then escorted to a private safari vehicle and went through the savanna stopping whenever we wanted a closer look at the animals. We finished off the afternoon with an authentic African snack in a private area only accessible on this tour.
It was such an awesome experience.
WOW!! This has been a busy week in Disney news. I tried to keep up with all the new announcements, hopefully I didn't forget anything. We will be saying good by to some well loved shows and welcoming new ones in their place.
1. All-New Mickey's Royal Friendship Faire is coming this summer to replace Dream Along with Mickey.
This summer, the all-new live stage show “Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire” will grace the grandest stage at Walt Disney World® Resort with magic, music and merriment! Against the majestic backdrop of Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom® Park, Mickey Mouse and his friends will welcome favorite characters from some of Disney’s newest classics: “The Princess and the Frog," "Tangled" and "Frozen." In “Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire,” Mickey and his troupe of Merry Makers have been preparing to host a joyous festival and have ventured far and wide to invite friends from other lands to join their celebration. From the Land of the Bewitching Bayous, Goofy has invited Tiana, Naveen and Louis to add a little spice of New Orleans jazz to the party. From the Land of the Enchanted Woods, Donald Duck brings some new friends he met at the Snuggly Duckling, and Daisy introduces us to her special guests, Rapunzel and Flynn Rider. Finally, Mickey shares a surprise with Minnie, as he has traveled to the Land of the Mystic Mountains to invite Olaf, Anna and Elsa, who contributes a blast of her icy magic. It all culminates in a grand dance, as the Merry Makers invite all their special guests to join in the fun on this special day in Magic Kingdom Park!
Marking the first appearances by Tiana and Rapunzel in a show on the castle stage, “Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire” brings to life beloved Disney stories both classic and contemporary in a spectacular performance featuring an original song, memorable music, lively dancing and special effects magic.
“Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire” will make its debut in summer 2016!
2. Dates have been announces for the Food and Wine Festival.
We’re excited to share that the Epcot® International Food & Wine Festival returns to Walt Disney World® Resort Sept. 14-Nov. 14, 2016. That means almost two additional weeks – from 53 days to 62 – of deliciousness, foodie fun, culinary events, celebrity chefs, seminars, music concerts and more.
The Food and Wine Festival is going to be Super Sized this year!!
3. The Princess Promenade
A very special experience for little princesses ages 3 to 12 started last week and the Grand Floridian Resort.
Cinderella will be hosting a daily "Princess Promenade" where all the children will be invited to stroll down the Grand Stair Case with her. Children can meet Cinderella at M. Mouse Mercantile and "promenade" down the stair case. Cinderella will then waltz with the princes and princesses in the grand lobby.
3. Disney's Hollywood Studios has announces a new stage show!!
A MASSIVE new Star Wars show is coming your way. This is what Disney has to say about it's new show that is making theme park history.!!
If there’s one word you could use to describe Star Wars – from the films and the excitement that surrounds them, to the loyal fandom – that word just might be “epic.” It also describes the exciting new offerings that are heading to Disney’s Hollywood Studios this spring.
Today, we’re happy to share that plans are currently in the works for a new Star Wars stage show and procession, as well as a nighttime spectacular so elaborate it’s set to make Disney’s Hollywood Studios history. Like I said, epic.
The Force will officially awaken at the park April 4, with the debut of the brand new Star Wars stage show, “Star Wars: A Galaxy Far, Far Away.” The new show will play out iconic moments from the film saga on Center Stage (in front of the Chinese Theater), and will feature appearances from Star Wars characters like Kylo Ren, Chewbacca, Darth Vader and Darth Maul.
4. Character Meet and Greets are getting cut.
This made me very sad to hear that the mean Lady Tremaine and her 2 nasty, yet very funny, step daughters will no long be greeting guests in the Magic Kingdom. You can still see them at 1900 Park Fare for dinner.
5. Reduced hours of operation for select Epcot attractions and stores.
Disney is trying to cut some operating expenses by cutting back the hours of some of their attractions. . Living with the Land and Journey into Imagination will both be closing at 7pm instead of closing. Mouse Gear with also have reduced operating hours. It will be open one hour after park opens and will stay open until closing. Agent P's World Showcase Adventure will now close at 6pm.
6. Share Your Ears
Disney Parks has announced that in celebration of the Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration, Disney parks will donate $5 to Make-A-Wish- up to $1 million` for every 'ear phone' you share on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter with the hashtag #ShareYourEars from now until March 14th. Help raise money for this wonderful organization by sharing your ears.
7. New ‘The Lion Guard Adventure’ experience kicks off at Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Disney’s Animal Kingdom is once again hosting a new and exciting scavenger hunt type of game similar to the park’s old Wilderness Explorer game. The new Lion Guard Adventure sends both young and old explorers on a park-wide search for the five Lion Guard characters: Kion, the fierce leader of the Lion Guard; Bunga, a brave and fearless honey badger; Fuli, a confident cheetah; Beshte, a friendly and good-natured hippo; and Ono, an intellectual egret.
The fun begins when guests pick up a “Lion Guard Adventure Map,” which are available in select merchandise locations.
The guest then begins their search for the character statues hidden in themed locations throughout the park that represent each animal. At each stop, you snap a selfie with yourself and the character.
Once all five character traits are discovered, cast members at Rafiki’s Planet Watch officially induct you into the Lion Guard with a special pledge, some fun activities, and a Lion Guard Button naming them as honorary members. Rafiki will also the newest inductees for a picture.
8. Toy Story Mania Closes for ONE day on March 15th.
The closure is to do to the addition of a third ride track which they now confirm will open Summer 2016.
Guests with FastPasses booked for the ride on March 15th will get a FastPass for a different attraction on that day.
I told you there was a lot of Disney news this week!!! I hope I didn't forget anything important.
What do you think about all of these changes that is happening?
Are you ready to book your Disney trip? Let one of our agents help you plan a MAGICAL vacation!
I recently returned from my Disney vacation where I decided to stay club level at the Beach Club, and I must say, from the beginning to the very end I loved it. The location of the Beach Club is awesome, it's a 3 minute walk to Epcot, or you can take a boat to Epcot, Hollywood Studios, Disney Spring or to the Boardwalk. I loved being able to walk into the back of Epcot and avoiding bus crowds.
The MAGIC started when we got off Disney's Magical Express, we were met by a cast member asking us if we were the Echler Family, welcomed us and took us up to the 5th floor where they brought me champagne and my daughter a sparkling juice. My daughter whispered to me, "Mom, they think we are famous" and that is how you feel when you are there, famous. Your concierge team does so much for you while you are there, make sure you utilize them, that is what they are there for.
I was so happy when we were taken to our newly renovated room. The decor was beautiful, very light and airy. The bathroom is quite large and of course we had the uograded H20 spa products. There is also a small fridge and coffee maker in the room. We had a Lagoon/Pool view room and it was amazing.
From this view we could watch the Star Wars Fireworks at Hollywood Studios from our private balcony.
People always ask me, why pay more for club level, what is so special about it? There are many perks to staying club level, attention to detail, the concierge helping you with any problems that may come, helping with fast passes if you want to change any reservations, they help with dining as well. They are there to help you with anything you need, very attentive and friendly. Each night guests return to their room to find their bedding turned down, and chocolates on their pillows. Only guests that stay club level have access to the this floor.
One of the best things about club level is the concierge lounge. Each day that have a continental breakfast spread, afternoon snacks, evening hors d'oeuvres, wine and beer and nightly evening cordials and desserts. You could ask for beer and wine whenever you wanted it, but it only out in the lounge from 5 to 7pm.
Breakfast consisted of hot grits, oatmeal, meat and cheese, boiled eggs, pastries, muffins, fresh fruit and a large assortment of coffee and tea. Many people ate in the lounge, some would go down and load up their plates and go to their rooms to eat.
The lounge is very large, plenty of seating. They even have a small table with a tv at the little one's level.
In the evenings they brought out the beer and wine along with the yummy hors d'oeuvres, hot and cold.
At night they served cordials and desserts, my friend's adorable daughter lovingly called it the "Chocolate Bar" I have to say, it was one of our favorites!! So many yummy sweets to choose from!!
The Beach Club is also known for their pool It is a 3 acre "waterpark" that is shared with the Yacht Club. It is known as Stormalong Bay and it is the largest pool on Disney property. It has a sand bottom!! It also includes a lazy river, hot tubs and an awesome pirate ship slide. It's a very large pool area with beautiful bridges and a huge windmill. There is also a place to get food, drinks, including alcoholic drinks, and snacks poolside.
I will be going back to the Beach Club again and again. If you have not tried concierge level, you really should!! For a week we were catered to and spoiled, it could be very easy to get use to that lifestyle, but unfortunately the Magical Express, which I call the Depression Express came to pick us up and take us back to reality. I have decided I don't like living in a world where magic bands don't work. Can I get a fast pass back to the Beach Club please??
If you would like to book a stay at Disney's Beach Club, or any Disney Resort, email me, I would love to help you plan a magical trip for you and your family.
