America's Best Beach

7/28/2016

Want to go to the beach and do not want to travel outside of the U.S.?
Have you ever thought of visiting the gulf coast beaches?

The gulf coast has some beautiful beaches to be explored!
Destin Beach is consistently rated one of the most beautiful beaches in the country.

Major beaches along the gulf coast are Destin, Florida; Orange Beach, Alabama; Panama City, Florida; and Pensacola, Florida. They have many more smaller beaches along the coast as well.
Accommodations range from beach houses to condos to hotels. Food options are plentiful along the coast and have some of the best selection of fresh seafood. While at the beach most offer parasailing, jet skiing, offshore fishing, snorkeling, private boat rentals, bike rentals, and much more.

The sugar white sands of the Emerald Coast are calling you!

If you have any questions about the gulf coast or would like a quote on a gulf coast vacation please feel free to contact me directly.

Disney Cruise Line - Rotational Dining

7/27/2016

One of the things first time Disney cruisers don’t entirely understand is the rotational dining concept.  Rotational dining is Disney’s way of making sure guests get to check out all 3 of their fabulously themed restaurants on each ship.  You’ll be assigned a dining rotation and each night will have a specific restaurant to dine in.  This is different than all of the other cruise lines where you are assigned to one table in one restaurant or you’re given dining options.  It’s kind-of the best of both worlds.  And the best part?  Your dining staff rotates with you so you’ll have the same server, assistant server and head server each night.  You’ll enjoy the beauty and themed menus each gorgeous restaurant has to offer.  If you’re on a longer cruise (7-10 nights) the menus will be different each night and it’s fun to see the restaurants again.

Animator’s Palate, in my opinion, is not to be missed (even on the duplicate night) especially for first time cruisers.  Depending on what ship you’re on you may have the chance to enjoy some time with everyone’s favorite turtle from down under, Crush, or watch the colors in the dining room transition from black and white to stunning vivid colors in a magical show, or you’ll have the opportunity to draw your own picture which is then added to an animated show played later during dinner.

Of course, you always have the option of ordering room service (free!), or eating at one of the quick service type restaurants on the top deck if you’re tired or you just don’t feel like going to the sit down meal.

Whatever you choose to do I highly recommend that you rotate through the restaurants several of the nights to see what they’re like.

Have you cruised with Disney?  What did you think of the rotational dining?  What were your favorites?  If you’ve yet to experience the magic of a Disney cruise, I’d love to help you.  Email shar@gomdv.com and let’s get your family making memories to last a lifetime with Disney Cruise Line!

Pirate Party fun on a Disney Cruise

7/25/2016

One of the best parts about Sailing through the Caribbean on a Disney Cruise is Pirate Night!

From the fun Pirate Swag you get on your bed as you return to your room to wear to dinner to the themed dinner and ending the night with Fireworks, it was a favorite memory for all of us.

My boys are especially big fans of Jake and the Neverland Pirates so knowing they'd see Peter Pan and Captain Hook made them very excited!  We got through a fun Pirate themed dinner which our waiters were dressed in theme as well.  The kids had so much fun dancing through the room, and playing Limbo with other kids.  We noticed alot of guests dress up for this. My kids had fun shirts for the night plus their pirate swag.

The Pirate party is on the top deck.  You can watch the show on the lower level of the top deck but I usually stay on the very top level to get a good view looking down at the show. A bunch of characters come out during the show.  My kids had a blast seeing Mickey and Friends, Peter Pan and Captain Hook.  Then the finale of fireworks was a perfect way to end the night.  As always it was a fun magical way to spend our night of vacation on the cruise.

Book your next magical Disney Cruise with me!

The Kitchen Sink (Beaches & Cream)

LOVE Ice Cream? Love a challenge? Then you must visit Beaches & Cream Soda Shop at the Beach Club!! I have always wanted to try The Kitchen Sink but it has never worked out…until this trip! The stars aligned and we were able to order this beauty!

5 Kinds of Ice Cream….All the toppings in the house and a hole can of whipped cream….A WHOLE CAN OF WHIPPED CREAM????  Yes, a whole can of whipped cream!

The ice creams included are…vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, mint chocolate chip and coffee

Here's the run down on the rest!!
Fudge, butterscotch, peaunut butter toppings plus chocolate syrup
1 Medium Banana
1 cinnamon spice cupcake
1 angel food cupcake
1 brownie
Marshmallow, strawberry and pineapple toppings
Snickers
Oreos
Toasted almonds
Dark and White Chocolate Shavings
Crushed cookies
Jellied orange slices
Choclate chip and peanut butter chip morsels
Chocolate and Rainbow sprinkles
and Maraschino Cherries! (I think I got them all!)

The delivery of this concoction is fabulous! The lights are lowered and lights begin to flash while this massive dessert is delivered to your table as your server announces what she is delivering! There were at least 7 other tables who ordered this while we were there and it was fun seeing reactions each and every time!

It was delicious and we did finish it! It took a while we were given a task and tackled it like champs! I don't see us ordering it again unless we have a lot more people but it was a lot of fun to get this in during our stay!

Need reservations for Beaches & Cream on your stay? Check in with your Dream Maker! If you haven't booked, I'd love to help you!

1900 Park Fare Dinner

7/21/2016

How do you interact with your favorite characters? Do you just walk up, give them your autograph book and smile for a picture? That's what most people do…and you are missing out on tons of fun!!

Our first dinner on our June trip was to 1900 Park Fare with Cinderella, Prince Charming, Lady Tremaine, Anastasia and Drizella.

Characters are my favorite and I always try to interact with the characters as much as possible! My son is getting more comfortable with them, so I wanted to get him in on the action. (Good and bad idea!!) We had a shirt made asking Drizella to marry him and he came armed with a Ring Pop to propose and a candy bracelet for Anastasia so she wouldn't be sad that her sister was getting all the attention!

Prince Charming, Cinderella and Lady Tremaine stopped by our table and were great! My husband made a comment about the size of Lady Tremaine's 'caboose' and she was not pleased and stormed off!  Anastasia was next and we gave her the candy bracelet….she was OVERLY excited which scared the pixie dust right out of my son! He didn't expect her reaction to be as grand as it was but her reaction to getting the 'jewelry' was great! She teased Drizella (not knowing her lovely sister would be getting a ring and proposal!)

He was still a bit startled when Drizella came by and didn't want to show her his shirt (which was under a button down shirt). There were a few tears but she was great letting him know he planned this proposal perfectly! We did manage to get a great picture of the happy couple!

The photopass photographer was fabulous before and after dinner. Prior to dinner, we took our family picture and then pictures of my son with his shirt open. As soon as we walked out after dinner, the photographer asked my son how it went and if he was getting married. He saw the 'kiss' on his check and figured out she must has said yes so he took more picture of the future groom!

Be sure to make your next character encounter more than just a quick hello!!

Your dream maker can help you with character interaction ideas to make your experience even more special and memorable!!

Unforgettable Birthday Celebration

7/1/2016

We celebrated my daughters 7th birthday while on our 4-night Disney Cruise to the Bahamas.  We wanted to make it special for her so prior to the trip I arranged the birthday decoration package to be set up in our room when we arrived to our stateroom! There were decorations and a cute magnet we got to put on the door!

Her actual birthday was our day at Sea so I had some ideas of what we could do for her. Since she didn't want to do the Bippity Boppity Boutique I found other fun things for her. I wanted her to have tons of things to look forward to so when we boarded the boat we went to the port excursions to arrange the character meets.  This is to be done for the Frozen Characters and the Disney princesses. We arranged to do the princess meet and greets the morning of her birthday.  They printed out a ticket with all the information of where to meet and the time.  I also wanted to do a fun breakfast so the night before her birthday I asked our waiter where the table service breakfast was going to be hosted. We opted out of Cabanas breakfast buffet and did the table seating at Lumieres.  Kylee got a birthday button that morning at breakfast to wear all day too, just like they do at Disney World.  She loves to swim, and the kids club itinerary showed a princess hour in the evening. So we filled our afternoon really quick!  It was a gorgeous day!

At dinner they sang Happy Birthday to her with her yummy dessert.

She exclaimed, "Best Birthday Ever!" before going to bed!   This will forever be a hard birthday to top!
