Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort

Did you know that Disney has a resort in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina? It is a little gem tucked away with amazing cast members and Disney level service! My family had the pleasure of staying a few nights there recently. Our experience left us booking our next stay before we even left!

There are deluxe studio and 1-2 bedroom villa options to meet multiple family size needs. We had a 2-bedroom villa for our family of 6. The 2 bedrooms can sleep 9 comfortably and include a full kitchen, washer and dryer and 2 full bathrooms. Our master bedroom had a king-sized bed, but for me, my favorite part was the large Jacuzzi tub! My kids loved that part as well, and asked to use it nightly!

Upon our arrival, we were greeted at check in by kind cast members and offered hot cider and fresh chocolate chip cookies complementary. We were given a sheet with the week’s activities/times, on site restaurant menus with hours, and even nearby restaurants we could try. Since we went “off season”, some of the normal on site restaurants were closed. The shopping center nearby (Shelter’s Cove) was within walking distance to our villa or a very short drive. There are several restaurants, little shops, and even a full grocery store to get some supplies!

Most daily activities are complementary, though for some specially marked activities on the sheet that fill quickly, reservations are recommended. We chose a couple paid activities as well (Mickey Tie Dye shirts and Shark teeth necklaces). You can simply call down to recreation department from your room phone to reserve your spot. Payment is due right before or after the activity. We called the resort a few days before arrival and they emailed us a list of the upcoming activities for that week, so we knew ahead of time what we wanted to do and even called recreation beforehand to ensure our children would be able to participate. Our favorite complimentary activities were Goofy Bingo, Campfire with smores, and the sea turtle life cycle with the Naturalist.

Besides weekly activities there are a number of things your family can do during your stay! They offer fishing pole rentals, crab nets for crabbing, bike rentals, kayak rentals, complimentary DVD rentals and more! They have their own fishing pier nearby to enjoy! Also, all around the resort there are basketball hoops, shuffle board, crochet, mini golf, and even playgrounds! Some evenings offer movies under the oaks outside and paint nights for couples! There is so much to do!

During our stay, we also took time to venture into the pool! Even though it was 45 degrees outside one of the days of our stay, the heated pool was open! The kids took a few turns going down the fun slide, but ultimately ended up in the large hot tub! Towels are provided and we took advantage of the showers in the bathrooms to warm up and change back into warm clothes before heading back out.

Another fun thing to do is go to the beach!  We took the shuttle offered from the resort to the Beach House. There they have a recreation room, heated pool, and quick service food including Dole Whips! It is a very short walk from the Beach House pier onto the sand. We enjoyed combing for shells and looking for treasures! We were very lucky, most likely due to the recent hurricane, and found many very nice shells, sand dollars and even several shark teeth! We loved our beach walks when the tide went out very far! It was one of our favorite parts about the vacation!

After our beach trips, we would come back to the resort and to the Mercantile shop where you can find many souvenirs, little supplies, and MICKEY BARS! When we were chilly, right next door at the Tide Me Over quick service restaurant, we would get hot chocolate!

We got to meet Shadow (Disney’s only living pet mascot) and hear all about his story and how he came to be there. We also got to meet and take pictures with Pluto! He is the only Disney character so far that has been frequenting the resort! We took pictures with him and he even hopped next to us while we tried out the complimentary photo booth. We will always remember that experience!

I could go on and on about the amazing cast members we met during our stay! They all went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable. They interacted with our kids, knew our names, and honestly taught us several new things! We will always remember them and hope to see them at our next visit! This resort is amazing and though it isn’t as well known as Disney World and Disney Land in the US, it is so much fun and worth the trip! I highly recommend going! I would love to book your vacation! Take your young PIRATES on an ADVENTURE they’ll never forget!!

My family and I just returned from our annual Walt Disney World Vacation!  While we have been to the Magic Kingdom many times, we often overlook many of the fun FREE activities that Disney has to offer.  However, this trip we decided to try one of them… “A Pirate’s Adventure – Treasures of the Seven Seas” and my kids LOVED it!!
There are several different missions you can compete.  Best part, complete 2 missions and receive an extra FASTPASS for an attraction of your choice!  With each of the completed missions, your child will receive a treasure finder card for that particular treasure hunt.  They can collect all 5!  These are the current adventures to choose from:
  • Heads You Lose: Race against Captain Barbossa to steal the Treasure of the Pacific from a tribe of headhunters.
  • Guardian’s Curse: Lure an evil British Captain into a trap and lay claim to the Treasure of the Indian Ocean.
  • Haven Defense: Collect ingredients for a powerful spell to hide the secret Pirate port and reveal the Treasure of the Caribbean.
  • A King’s Ransom: Follow Jack’s clues to locate a pirate ship where the Treasure of the Arctic is hidden.
  • Blackbeard: Battle Blackbeard and win the Treasure of the Mediterranean.
My kids had a fantastic time exploring Adventureland, following treasure maps, looking for interactive clues & helping Captain Jack complete his missions!  With each correct clue followed, each clue location has an interactive tutorial that leads you on to the next clue.
This is a must do, during your next visit to the Magic Kingdom!  Make sure to head over to the Crow’s Nest in Adventureland, to get started on your PIRATE ADVENTURE!!

If you’re thinking about your next Disney Vacation, I’d love to help!
