Disney Hawaiian Cruise

A couple months ago my hubby and I were able to hop on the Disney Cruise Line Hawaiian sailing for an early 20th anniversary trip.
Cruising Hawaii is one of my favorite ways to see the Hawaiian islands...unpack once and you get to hit several islands without having to take flights from one to the other.  We started in Oahu and sailed to Maui, The Big Island, and Kauai.

In several ports we did official DCL port adventures but in Maui we decided to rent a car and do our own thing.  We traveled with another couple and she had found this great hike.  We traveled the famed Road to Hana which isn't for the faint of heart or the easily carsick but it's amazing and the views are stunning.  12 miles past Hana Town you'll find the Pipiwai Trail to Waimoku Falls hike.

The trail is about 4 miles round trip and takes a good 2-3 hours depending on how in (or in our case, out) of shape you are.  Though not overly strenuous, you'll work up a sweat.  The trail is gorgeous with guava trees, and kukui nut trees all around.  The Hawaiian vegetation is fascinating especially to this desert girl.  Good hiking shoes are recommended as some of it is pretty rocky and when we were there it was rainy/slick.  Not only does the hike end at the stunning Waimoku Falls (a 400ft waterfall) but along they way you encounter a large banyan tree, a bamboo forest (which was seriously magical) and several other beautiful waterfalls.  At the end you'll need to cross a small stream to get the best view of the falls.  Don't fret about getting your shoes wet, the view is so worth it!  And the sound of the falls is awesome.

Hope you enjoy if you get the chance to check it out!  And as always, I'd love to help you book your next cruise or trip to Hawaii.  Email me at shar@ gomdv.com for your personalized information!
