Lissy's Weekend Round Up

This has been another busy week in Disney News!!  Here is a quick round up of what is new. 

1.  Reservations are available for Minnie's Spring Time Dine

Spring is in the air at Walt Disney World, you can now celebrate the season at Minnie's Springtime Dine.  You will be able to see Minnie, Mickey, Donald, Daisy and Goofy in their new spring suits.  The new menu is meant to make you feel as if you were having a springtime picnic with your Disney Pals. 

2.  Disney Characters on the move at Disney's Hollywood Studios.

Work on the center stage at DIsney's Hollywood Studios began in preparations for Start Wars: A Galzxy Far, Far Away, the new show which will begin regular performances next month.   With the construction going on the characters that you normally see there will be found in the courtyard area of The Great Movie Ride.

3.  Disney's Wine and Dine Half Marathon gets new events and schedule changes. 

Many changes to the 2016 Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend were announced early this week, including the revelation that this runDisney even will expand to three days this year with new events and a modified schedule.  The main half-marathon even will begin at 5:30am and will take runners on a different course through ESPN Wide World of Sports, Disney's Animal Kingdom and Epcot. 

This year they will also include an all-new Disney Wine and Dine 10K, which will take place on Saturday, November 5th and will be included of the newly announced Lumiere's Two Course Challenge, which will also include a half-marathon event. 

You can register for these events starting on March 29th.

4.  Inside Out Characters can be found in Epoct.

Joy and Sadness will be coming to Epcot next month.  You can find them at Epcot's expanded Character Spot, alongside our favorite healthcare companion, Baymax.  We don't have an exact date as of yet, but we are told it will be in April. 

5.  'Ohana will have extended dinner hours at the Polynesian Resort.

Earlier this year, 'Ohana extended it's daily breakfast hours, which was a very popular decision, with many guests taking advantage of the additional hours.  Dinner reservations at this popular location has announced the operating hours for dinner.  Dinner services will start at 3:30pm instead of 5 and continue through 10:00pm.  

6.  Easter 2016 Entertainment Schedule for Magic Kingdom is confirmed.


The week of Easter is always a busy time at Walt Disney World, during this busy, yet fun time,  Disney has announced they will bringing back some of the fan favorite seasonal entertainment this year to help you celebrate the holiday with Mr and Mrs Easter Bunny.  The Bunny's will be meeting guests on Main Street USA and can be found in the Town Square Courtyard March 14-27, 2016 from 9am to 6pm.  In addition to our favorite Bunny and his wife, the festively dressed Azalea Trail Maids will appear in a special Easter pre-parade before the Festival of Fantasy Parade on March 26th and 27th.  These beautiful maids will be on hand to meet and take photos with guest on Easter Sunday.

7.  Night Safari at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge is Now Available to ALL Guests.

Guest that aren't staying at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge can finally enjoy one of the perks that has only been offered to guests of the Lodge.   Disney World guests can now take part in the Night Safari, complete with the night-vision goggles.  

It has been renamed the Starlight Safair.  Guests will be able to use the goggles to see the zebras, giraffes and other exotic animals while on a night safari.


Reservations for the Starlight Safari can be made starting now.  You can ask your favorite travel agent to book this nighttime safari for you.  The cost is $70 per hour, per guest. 

8.  Star Wars Day at Sea will return to the Disney Cruise Line in early 2017.  These Disney Fantasy special sailings will expand to both eastern and western Caribbean itiniearies.

​Star Wars Days at Sea will return next year.  There will be 15 sailings, 7 night Eastern and Western Caribbean  on the Disney Fantasy from early January to mid April.

Each sailing will have a full day of dark side and light side fun.  Characters from Star Wars will be making random appearances , there will be a deck party complete with fireworks, Jedi training for the kids and screening of the Star Wars movies.  There will also be unique food and beverages and of course, special merchandise. 

9.  The Oasis Pool at  Disney's Polynesian Resort is FINISHED!!

Disney's Polynesian Resort has finally opened the new quiet pool, The Oasis at the resort.  Not only will you find a nice quiet spot to cool off and relax you will also find a quick service restaurant and a place to refill your resort mugs.
