Relax - Take a Break!

Unless you’re injecting Mountain Dew directly into your veins, not everyone can spend every waking second of their Disney vacation running from one attraction to another.
There needs to be a break in there somewhere.  Whether it’s because you’re getting older, you have a child who’s exceeded their nap-time or you just want to take a few moments to drink in the atmosphere – break-time is very important.
So how do you spend your little escape from the fast-paced, must-ride-this, gotta-do-this-before-we-get-home moments?
I guess it can depend on which park you’re in when the need for a break hits you.  I’ll give you my favorite spots per park…
In the Magic Kingdom, nothing relaxes me more than the Peoplemover in Tomorrowland.  Rarely is there any line over 5 minutes.  The ride itself is about 10 relaxing minutes.  Time to sit back on a smooth-moving, scenic tour of Tomorrowland.  I’ve been on it many times but if you get on it around dusk, the changing sky adds a whole new bit of magic to the ride.  Riding it after all the night-time lights go on is another visual delight.

Over in Epcot, the 10 minute ride on Spaceship Earth is a nice way to get a second wind.  Not only do you get some of your strength back, but you also learn about the evolution of communication; from Cavemen days to our modern day computers.    Relaxing & educational (but don’t tell your kids!)
Animal Kingdom has many secluded spots surrounding the Tree of Life that provide a refreshing place to sit in the shade and watch the world (and hundreds of tourists) go by.  Time will fly by as you stare at all the intricate carvings of animals in the Tree of Life – it seems like no matter how many times you look at the tree, you always seem to come across a carving that you never saw before.
With all the new construction over at Disney Hollywood Studios, who knows how many out-of-the-way areas will be created.  I like to take a seat in the plaza area near the 50’s Prime Time Café.  You can people watch or just sit back, take in the breeze and gaze over Echo Lake.

When all else fails, go into the closest restroom, grab a seat, pull your legs up to your chest, rock back and forth and repeat, ‘Serenity Now.  Serenity Now.’  Of course, just taking the time to grab something to eat (perhaps a sit down dinner) could be enough to rejuvenate you, too.
What about you?  Do you have a place where you go to regain your sanity?  Catch a few breaths?  Relax?  Please share with your fellow readers.
