We all know a Disney cruise is great for a family vacation but what about an adults only vacation? Will there be enough activities that are geared toward adults? I can say with no hesitation that an adults only cruise with Disney is a must! My husband and I just returned from an amazing 10 night Disney Hawaiian cruise on the Disney Wonder. We began our journey in Honolulu Hawaii and said good-bye in Vancouver Canada. We had a fabulous time while exploring four of the Hawaiian Islands, Ohahu, Maui, The Big Island, and Kauai as well as relaxing on our five days at sea.
Upon boarding the Disney Wonder in Honolulu we were greeted with a traditional Hawaiian greeting complete with flower leis for the ladies and kukui nut leis for the men. While waiting to board the ship we were entertained by authentic hawaiian musicians. We took this opportunity to take pictures around the terminal with some of our favorite Disney characters.
Welcome home…for the next 10 days! Of course you can’t forget to decorate your stateroom door. All of the stateroom doors on the Disney ships are magnetic and decorating your door is a great way to make your door unique!
In Honolulu we spent the day snorkeling at Hanauma Bay. The views were beautiful and the fish were plenty.
Our second port of call was Maui. The Disney Wonder was docked in Maui overnight, this enabled us to enjoy two days on the beautiful island of Maui.
Our first day in Maui was spent exploring the road to Hana. I highly recommend taking a full day to enjoy the road to Hana. There are so many amazing things to discover on the way to Hana.
About 12 miles past Hana is a must do hike. The Pipiwai Trail is a moderate hike that takes you through a mystical bamboo forest on your way to the breath-taking 400 foot Waimoku Falls.
Our second day in Maui was spent on the Pride of Maui catamaran with snorkel stops at Turtle Town and Molokini Crater. This is another “must-do” while in Maui.
Our thrid port of call was Hilo. We chose to do the Akaka Falls Zipline tour. It included 7 ziplines with the last zipline taking you soaring over the 250 foot Kolekole Falls.
Our fourth port of call was Kauai. One of the many excursions offered by Disney on this lush island was the Hollywood and Waterfalls tour. We had fun getting to see where many movies have been filmed while utilizing the gorgeous landscape of Kauai as a backdrop.
Now it was time to start our anxiously awaited five days at sea!! There are so many activities available on the Disney wonder. From the delicious food, adult variety shows, live music, art gallery, ship tours, relaxing spa to the Broadway style stage shows there is fun and relaxation for the adults only travel party. We had a great time getting caught up on Disney’s newest released movies in the Buena Vista Theater. We bushed up on our cocktail mixing techiniques in mixology class, we learned some great ways to customize a mojito in the mojito tasting class, and we had our tastebuds tantalized in the chocolate and liquor tasting class. Palo was another treat for our tastebuds, we enjoyed dinner and brunch in Disney’s Italian themed adults only restaurant.
You will definitly not run out of things to do on the Disney Wonder. Your vacation can be as busy or relaxing as you would like it to be. My number one favorite thing on our cruise was the rainforest relaxation room in the Vista spa. We purchased the rainforest pass for the length of our cruise, this gave us unlimited access to the raiforest. The rainforest offers many places to rejuvinate, you can relax in the sauna, steam rooms, tropical showers or warmed tile relaxation loungers. This was the perfect place to chillout and relax with a good book.
