At the height of summer, few things seem like a better idea than a day at the waterpark...in theory. Then you realize there is all that prep and packing, no private rest rooms, plus the time spent sitting in a car all wet and annoyed for the ride home. Factor in the cost of entry, food, and a locker for the day and it all starts to sound like work. ...But what if you could just walk out of your private door to a waterpark? Keeping everything you need just steps away from your room? What if there were no extra fees, all your food & drinks were included, and available on demand all day? That's the premise behind on-resort waterparks, where spending a hot, sunny day slipping and sliding, splashing and swimming is only steps away from your luxurious all-inclusive digs. Here are some of the best ones in locales with seemingly endless summers. Sandos Caracol Eco Resorts' Sandos Aqua ParkOpen to resort guests, this all-ages eco-friendly park is unique in its size, range, and the fact that it's set in a real live jungle. This park is naturally built into the landscape in a way that doesn't impact the environment, including the property's precious mangrove areas. After all, as you can tell by this resort's name, this property is deeply committed to environmental preservation, sustainability, and minimizing its carbon footprint. It’s one of—if not the--biggest water parks in Playa del Carmen. With 29 slides for a whole range of ages, an impressive 17 are appropriate for those under 3’7”. For those above that height, there are 12 more, with five available to those that height or taller, and seven for those 4’7” and up. Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya's Rockaway BayThis mega-resort is already a showstopper, a headliner, a marquee performer when it comes to family vacations in epic style. So when they added Rockaway Bay to the all-inclusive amenities available exclusively for that resort’s guests … well, the appropriate decibel level of those cheers would deserve to be ear-splitting. This enormous park features 23 slides: eight for kids at least 3’5”, nine for kids and teens, and six heart-pounding, high-speed slides for teens and adults. Best of all, four of the high-speed ones are right next to each other and mirrored rides, so you can race your friends and family down! To take the tone down a notch, there’s a splash pool for the wee ones, too, and a snack bar that opens and closes with the park. But just try to resist waiting the 30 minutes before diving back into the fun! That just might be the biggest challenge here. Royalton Splash Punta Cana’s Splash ParkWhen water’s in the property name, you better believe the water park is going to be a star attraction! The kids’ section offers its own water slides, and for a range of ages, there’s a wave pool, seven “monster” slides. The longest of these is the Black Hole, a 372-foot slide that’s an adventure all its own. Even more remarkable is the Space Bowl, a giant U-shaped, skateboard ramp-looking slide that ricochets your inner tube from arc to arc until it loses momentum. If you’d rather go fast than long, there’s the open-air four-lane racer and the twin enclosed slide. Riu’s Splash Water WorldTake your pick of Mexico, Jamaica, Dominican Republic, or Costa Rica to take advantage of this resort brand’s signature water park! There’s an average of eight slides apiece at each of the eight locations, and with the Punta Cana complex bringing up that standard with an extra slide, as the biggest Splash Water World across the brand. Spending the day at any one of them is a privileged, exclusive experience. All of them are reserved solely for the enjoyment of RIU guests over 48” tall. And if you think these water parks are just for families, think again! The ones at Riu Republica and Riu Montego Bay are actually geared for adults only. In fact, guests at nearly Riu Palace Jamaica and Riu Reggae will want to drop the young’uns off at the kids clubs at their chosen properties to take advantage of this grown-up amenity! But at all the other locations, age is nothing but a number. Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts Punta Cana’s Aqua Nick®Both kids and adults can get lost in a whole other world of cartoons come to life at this whimsical resort, where Spongebob; Dora and Boots; the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles; PAW Patrol’s Marshall, Chase, and Skye; and more are just as likely to appear at any given moment as a smile on a child’s face. Chances of spotting one of these “celebrities” are higher at Aqua Nick®, the water park right by Plaza Orange, the character hub. Here, while waiting to see a star(fish … like Patrick!), all are welcome to splash the day away from a tower with four winding water slides, splash pads, spray grounds, a lazy river, and lots to climb. Admission is free for all resort guests, who also get exclusive early access to the park, but it’s extra for certain “extras.” For instance, for a private sliming (scheduled ones drop down from a main bucket!), it’s $49 for a group of up to five—a steal at just $10 a person and memories for a lifetime. Sunscape Akumal Riviera Maya’s Rex Dino LandThis AMR™ Collection resort already had a splash park just for kids at the Explorer’s Club, but now, exploration has gone prehistoric here! Rex Dino Land is now open and welcoming guests of all ages to enjoy watery “immersion” among the deadliest reptiles ever to have existed. There’s only one slide, but there are plenty of splash buckets and sprinklers to play among. There’s also a playground and Casa Maya, a toy house, plus a whole indoor family game room with every bonding activity you can imagine. Pool tables, Xbox and PlayStation games, foosball, ping pong, and a bungee trampoline let you dry off in fun. And for breaks, a poolside food truck offering grilled snacks and bites can be just the thing. Mickey's Dream Vacations is a full-service travel agency, specializing in Disney Destinations. We take the stress out of travel planning. Thinking about taking a cruise? Make sure you use a professional to make your trip as seamless as possible. Your friends say just book online and go...not so fast. There are so many more logistics to cruising than just booking and paying-that's the easy part. You need a professional that has the knowledge and experience to help you make the right decisions for your vacation investment every step of the way. There are many moving parts to cruising, below are just a so you can see that it's not as easy as clicking that "Book now" button. 1. New Protocols First and foremost you need to understand the new protocols for sailing. The CDC has requirements in place and some islands also have additional ones. We keep up to date on all of this to make sure you know exactly what you need to do and when you need to do it by. 2. Choosing the right ship Some cruise lines have over 50 different ships. How do you know you are choosing the right one that fits what you truly are looking for? We know them all and have experienced them first-hand. Don't get bogged down trying to figure out all the differences, that's what you have us for. 3. Choosing a stateroom You know you want an ocean view and a balcony but what floor is best? What area of the ship is best? Do you know what's above that room you found online to avoid loud noise or a wet balcony? We are experts in the ships and know the best room category and best stateroom numbers to pick. 4. Ports of Call Some islands offer more to do than others, don't get stuck on a sailing that goes to an island with not much to offer. We have experienced them all and can help make sure the ports match what you want out of this vacation. 5. Getting to the ship It's easy to book the cruise but how do you actually get there after your flight? What if your flight gets in to late and you literally miss the boat? We will make sure every detail is correct so you are on the right path to having a stress-free vacation. We take a critical look at the moving parts of your trip to make sure that each component fits – like a giant jigsaw puzzle. 6. Food Allergies & Special needs Some cruise lines are better at this than others but you wouldn't know it unless you have sailed with them. We will steer you in the right direction to make sure your needs are met. 7. Sailing with kids Traveling with small children adds an additional layer of stress. Some ships are better suited for families with different amenities like kids clubs, water slides, baby zones, etc. Can you have an adult meal while your kids are in the kids club? Absolutely, we will handle that for you. 8. Passport and destination entry requirements Can you cruise without a passport? Yes! A lot of people don't realize this. There are ways to do this but you need to make sure you have the correct documentation. 9. Onboard Activities Some of the larger ships have a mind-numbing amount of activities and most of them require an advanced reservation. Don't miss out on the fun because you didn't know you needed to book it ahead of time. We have this handled for you. 10. You are leaving money on the table when you book direct instead of with us. The cruise lines and resorts build the commission they pay us into the price you see but if you don't use us, that money just stays with them. Wouldn't you rather have an expert helping you instead of giving it back to them? We don't charge a fee, so the price is the same if you book it yourself or with us. We are your advocate and have no reason not to get you the best price possible. It's a win-win! 11. Leave it to the pros Our careers are based on knowing things, places and people, that you don't know. We have spent our careers establishing and building relationships with our supplier and destination counterparts, so that our clients can enjoy exclusive access, VIP treatment, an special amenities wherever and whenever they travel. In some cases, these benefits are complementary to the traveler-just one more way travel advisors provide superior value. Perks of booking with a Travel AgentBetter Value What if there's a better ship or better stateroom for the same price that you don't know about? We do! The cruise lines offer us special pricing to offer you that is not published online. Freebies & other Perks Shipboard credits are credits for you to use towards extras on your cruise like excursions, the spa, upgraded drinks, and fine dining. Depending on the sailing and details of your booking, most agents will include a shipboard credit with your booking. We currently have a shipboard credit offer for new Disney Cruise Line bookings.
