Have you ever wondered what’s it’s like to go behind the scenes at Disney’s Animal Kingdom park? My family and I were lucky enough to experience a bit of it recently when we went on the Wild Africa Trek. It took me a bit out of my comfort zone when we had to be harnessed in to cross a rickety bridge over crocodiles or standing on a cliff to feed the hippos, but it was well worth it.
The trek only accommodates 12 people per trip, so it’s an intimate group. You start out by gearing up in safety harnesses before heading through Kilimanjaro Safari area. Our first stop after a brief hike through the wilderness was feeding hippos then we were off to cross rope bridges over crocodiles. We were then escorted to a private safari vehicle and went through the savanna stopping whenever we wanted a closer look at the animals. We finished off the afternoon with an authentic African snack in a private area only accessible on this tour.
It was such an awesome experience.
