2023 - Independent Contractor Program FAQs:
Our Philosophy & Objectives
At Mickey’s Dream Vacations, we provide stress-free travel planning for busy families and couples.
We consistently win awards for being a Top Producer with our suppliers. This means that we consistently give exceptional service so clients will want to book with us again and tell all of their friends. To achieve these awards, we have very high expectations of the agents who work within our company.
Our main philosophy is built on the idea that we are a team. We all help each other; teamwork is encouraged whenever possible and we do not think you should go at this alone. We are here to help one another be successful.
Expectations
“Participation is the key to success” is our Team Motto. MDV’s unique community and culture are guided by the belief in impassioned, enthusiastic participation. Eagerly embracing every opportunity and cultivating the courage to not only try new things, but to create new ways to grow and learn.
Agents are expected to push their limits and get out of their comfort zones. We expect you to participate in daily discussions, monthly zoom calls, weekly training webinars, FAM trips, and so on. To not only be involved in your business but to craft yourself, in ways that reveal your passions will lead to the realization of your true capabilities.
We realize that you might have another job and that's ok! You don't have to attend everything but if you make and effort to show up, your business will grow.
Fully engaged agents have been shown to be 80% more profitable than those that are not. If you want to sell more travel, then participation is the key to your success.
We expect you to sell at least three vacations each quarter or twelve per calendar year to stay in our program.
FAQS:
Will I be an employee of Mickey’s Dream Vacations?
If you join our team, you will be an independent contractor. Independent contractors, by definition, means– one that contracts to do work or perform a service for another and that retains total and free control over the means or methods used in doing the work or performing the service. This means you are not an employee.
As an IC you own and operate your own business from your own home office, on your own schedule. It’s completely up to you what hours and days you work. Of course, the more you dedicate yourself the more earning potential there is for you. You also will have to be available to clients while they are traveling, so it is important that if you have another full-time job that you can still help clients should an emergency arise while they are on vacation. Some of our agents use one another as backups for these times.
Is there Training?
Our Industry-leading Master Agent Program (MAP) is a 2-month self-paced online program that will get you trained on all our preferred suppliers. During the 2-months, you will have one-on-one access to our in-house trainer who will facilitate your training and be there every step of the way to help you become a Master Agent.
This training program gives you all the tools you will need to become a successful agent.
You must complete this training in the initial 2 months to continue in our program.
What does it cost to start?
There is an initial startup and training fee of $600 and a renewal fee of $350 each year after. The $600 must be paid when you signup. The $350 renewal fee is due January 15th of each calendar year.
Why is there a fee to join?
Mickey's Dream Vacations is not like other agencies. We have been in business since 2010 and have a proven track record of training and cultivating successful agents. There are agents on our team making $150,000 a year or more. This is due to our continued support and industry leading training. We sell more than just Disney, because of this, we need to make sure you understand the ins and outs of selling all travel. There is so much more to selling travel than just booking a hotel and ticket package. You will learn it all with us. A family that goes to Disney this year will inevitably expand their travel horizons and want to go somewhere else next year or the year after that. You want to be their Travel Agent for life so you need to be well versed in other destinations. Most of the Disney focused travel agencies out there do not offer training in other destinations...we do.
A typical travel school tuition is on average $6,500 at your local community college. Our training program is only $600. For a tenth of the cost and time, we will set you up for success. You will finish our program with the skills needed to not only be a pro at the destinations you love but you will also be able to SELL those destinations. Selling and loving travel are two very different things. We want you to be successful so we make sure you have the tools to do that. Because of our intensive training program, we have to charge a higher fee. 90% of the fee goes to the trainer and the rest covers your setup expenses listed below.
The startup fee includes:
TESS, our CRM database for entering bookings is required. Your monthly TESS subscription ($25) is not included in the initial training and setup fee. This starts when you complete the training program and gets paid directly to TESS. This is a tax-deductible expense.
Residents of the state of Florida will have to apply for a Florida Seller of Travel license for $50 and renew this annually.
How will I be compensated and are there other benefits?
This is a commission only sales opportunity, not just for the average Disney fan or blogger. You must be motivated to increase your sales and to make money.
We are looking for new agents that are eager to grow their travel business. We sell more than just Disney and are looking for agents that want to learn about new destinations.
